I'd been reading the excellent reviews that the bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation has received and was even more tempted when it was won a Debenhams Beauty Club Award in the foundation category. I visited the store to find my most suitable shade, which turned out to be the very lightest; Fair.
I decided to purchase the Get Started kit for £49 at Debenhams as it came with:
- bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer 15ml
- bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation in Light 8g
- bareMinerals Original Mineral Veil 2g
- bareMinerals Warmth All-Over Face Color 1.5g
- bareMinerals Full Flawless Face Brush
- bareMinerals Flawless Application Face Brush
- bareMinerals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush
- A How-To DVD showing you how to apply them all
(Please note that often contents of the online Get Started Kits are different in that they offer two 2g foundation in different shades, however bareMinerals offer a customisable kit for £50).
I was dubious at first, I've always used liquid foundation and I didn't think a powder would give me the coverage of liquid and a concealer. I also thought it could be incredibly drying and obvious on my skin. However it goes on really smoothly with the Full Flawless brush. It's great at covering un-even skin tones, whilst still keeping your make up light.
What amazed me most was how well it applied as a concealer using the Maximum Coverage Concealer brush, it's superior to any concealer I own! I've ditched my previous concealer favourite; Boi-ing by Benefit.

The Warmth All Over Face Color is a bronzer and perhaps a little too dark for me. They don't seem to offer different shades of this for lighter skin. I do wear it for a bit of colour at times but I have to be extremely careful on how much I apply.
The Prime Time Foundation Primer is smooth and a little on the greasy side, but I feel that this helps when using powder products like the bareMinerals foundation. I wouldn't use it with any liquid foundation though.
Lastly the Mineral Veil is a final powder to set your make up. I think my make up does stay longer when I top it off with this. It's also useful if you've gone a bit too hard on the bronzer or blusher, as it helps tone it down a little.
I'm think it's worth buying the Get Started Kit (considerably cheaper from FeelUnique at only £39.25) for the foundation, primer and brushes alone. I'll continue to buy the kit once the foundation, primer and Mineral Veil have been all used up
