Review: Sleek Matte Me Lipsticks in Party Pink, Brink Pink & Fandango Purple

As a firm lover of matte lips I couldn't resist picking up a few of Sleek's new range of Matte Me Lipsticks.


I decided to go for 3 of the brighter shades they do; Party Pink, Brink Pink and Fandango Purple, but they also have several nude shades in the Matte Me range too, which I will be buying and reviewing shortly.


These are really quite cheap considering the current alternatives I own which amount to roughly double the price, so I was a bit concerned that perhaps they would be lacking in quality, but I was so wrong! I was thrilled to find that I actually prefer these to the similar products I own, including Lime Crime's Velvetines and my recently reviewed Topshop's Velvet Lips.

I found they all applied easily and smoothly, with vibrant, opaque colour that even rivals Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars. Colour me impressed. I've also found they tend to bleed less in comparison to other similarly textured matte lip products.

Party Pink

Party Pink is the perfect Barbie-pink, and actually very similar in colour to Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic's Anime Lip Tar, except that it of course has that velvet matte finish. In fact it may actually be brighter! Who knew that was possible?! This shade definitely isn't for the shy and retiring type! I found it slightly more difficult to apply than the others though, in that it didn't quite seem to have the same level of opacity, so I actually used 2 layers of this one.

Brink Pink

I'd argue this one isn't pink, it's more of a coral red and almost a perfect dupe for Lime Crime's Suedeberry Velvetines. This shade has absolutely brilliant coverage/opacity.

Fandango Purple

Fandango Purple is possibly my favourite of the 3 because of its unique colour; a very bright fuchsia. I find it difficult to get purple lips to suit me, but this one does the job well I think.

I'm loving their packaging too, even if it is adding some unnecessary bulk to the product. I think it makes them look a little more fancy and expensive. They all last really well and rarely come off onto glasses/mugs etc as they dry almost instantly.

Sleek's Matte Me Lipsticks come in at an amazing £4.99 each, and right now Superdrug are even offering 3 for 2, making them an absolute steal. After trying these 3 I have absolutely no doubts about going back and buying all the other shades.
