Review: Benefit Lemon Aid

Colour Corrector, Color Correcting, dark shadows, Benefit, Lemon Aid, concealer

Dark eyeshadows are one of my biggest concerns when it comes to my skin. I'm quite pale and I believe this is why I have fairly dark circles. They never seem to be impacted by good sleep and rarely do eye creams make much of a difference. By far the most effective way to get rid of them is to simple conceal them. In comes Benefit's Lemond Aid. I initially trialled this product when it came in mini form in Benefit's Confessions of a Concealaholic Kit. When I purchased it I wasn't particularly interested in Lemon Aid, but it turned out to be by far my favourite product in the box.

Benefit's Lemon Aid is a colour-correcting eyelid primer but I find it works perfectly under your eyes too. To colour correct an area of skin, you can simply take a look at the colour you wish to hide and select the colour opposite in the wheel to help neutralise the tone. As you can see here, to combat the bluey-purple tones of dark shadows, it's best to go for yellows and peaches, making Lemon Aid perfect for the job.

Benefit's Lemon Aid is a fairly high pigment cream primer and will really go a long way to neutralise any dark shadows. I apply it after my moisturiser and face primer, just before my foundation and concealer, focusing mainly on the area under my eyes although I do use it on the eye lids too. Due to its high pigment it's actually pretty effective at hiding spots and other blemishes too. An all-round useful product when it comes to concealing any concerns you may have. Here you can see it applied to my hand (unblended):

Benefit's Lemon Aid is available for £16.50 but I'd say it's worth every penny and is already something I've re-purchased more than once.

  2. I've wanted to try this for a long time but have somehow forgotten about it since I started to use the Urban Decay Primer Potion, it seems so lovely and is pretty enough to use on its own :o) Xx

    1. Ah! I've never really used that UD stuff much, I got it with a couple of palettes but I never really noticed a difference using it. I'm not sure how well this product compares as a primer, but I love it for it's colour correction qualities :) x

    1. Yeah Benefit don't seem to push it very much! I only came across it because it was in a concealer set, but I'm so glad I did!

  4. I have this in my Confessions of a Concealaholic kit but wasn't that impressed, but then again, I tend to use it on my eyelids. I'll definitely give it a go under my eyes though to see if I change my mind xx
