Review & Tips: Lip Tar in Anime

I couldn't resist picking up a Lip Tar when I first heard about them; unique and highly pigmented lip colours that are long lasting!

I wanted a bright barbie pink shade, so had a look through the swatches I could find online as Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics offer quite a variety of vibrant pinks. I decided on the colour 'Anime' and I was not disappointed.

Many Lip Tars come with a mini lip brush and I'd definitely recommend using a brush to apply it. If you tried to apply it direct from the tube I'm certain you'd end up looking like a child who's just discovered mum's make up bag. You only apply the tiniest drop of the liquid on to the brush then I suggest applying it in small strokes working from the inner parting of your lips, working out to avoid having too much product at the edges, resulting in your lip colour bleeding.

Leave it to dry for a few seconds before blotting off any excess. I suggest using a lipstick sealant product at this point, I use Rimmel's Lipstick Lock, as I've found that it really helps to make the colour long lasting and helps to prevent it from shifting or transferring. Be warned though, if you use a lipstick lock it will likely soon be the same colour as you Lip Tar ;) With this method I find that the Lip Tar stays put for a large portion of the day and survives most food and drink!

Anime is a very eye catching bright pink but OCC offer a huge range of other colours, including some more subtle but still highly pigmented colours. I've bought a few more since but Anime remains to be my favourite and I know it will remain a staple in my make up kit for a good while.

Most Lip Tars are available for around £11.50 and can be picked up at Selfridges.

Have you tried any Lip Tars? What's your favourite shade?

    1. I'd definitely recommend them, they're my favourite of all my lip products. I do have the white Sleek dupe and mix it with my bright Lip Tars to create new colours :)

  2. Great review Hannah! OCC's Lip Tar is an amazing product. I got a couple of them at IMATS and have used them for music videos and a series pilot episode. It's as gorgeous on screen as it is in reality. But it stains like nothing else I've ever seen. Once I got some on my jeans and it took two washes to get it out ;)
