Review: Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme Hair Oil and Bain Volumateur Aux Algues Shampoo

Hair oil, hair care, Selfridges, massage, Hair oil, hair care, Selfridges, massage,

As you may have seen in one of my recent posts, I recently got to try this Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme Hair Oil at the Selfridges Autumn Beauty Event. They were offering a head and shoulder massage, applying the hair oil in the process. It was very relaxing and I was even treated to some champagne and chocolate. The product smelt really lovely and the oil was not too greasy (luckily, as walking round like I work in the local chippy was not the look I was going for that night!). Unlike most hair oils, this one is in fact applied prior to washing your hair and helps detangle and nourish whilst also offering protection against the hair the damaging effects of sun, seawater and chlorinated pool water hair.

The Huile de Palme oil was worked in evenly from the mid-length to the ends of my hair. Whilst you can wash it out 10 minutes after application, it was advised I left it on all night and then washed in the morning. They selected the shampoo best suited to my hair type for me to take home and use, which turned out to be the Bain Volumateur Aux Algues Shampoo which claims to add strength and volume to thin or limp hair, with a detangling effect that eliminates the need to use a conditioner.

I was a bit sceptical about not using a conditioner, as shampoo should really be giving your hair a thorough clean and then you can regain any moisture you lost using a conditioner, however I was pleasantly surprised by how silky and tangle-free my hair was after using the shampoo. It really was a treat to have tried out these products.

The Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme Hair Oil sells at £26.00 for a decent sized 95ml bottle and the Bain Volumateur Aux Algues Shampoo at £26.50 for 200ml, so they're definitely more of a luxurious treat than a regular for me unfortunately (if only I could get the free head massage each time!).

Disclaimer: products were from a free in-store trial at Selfridges. Product images are from the product listings on the Selfridges website.
