Review: Models Own Fruit Pastels

Models Own Fruit Pastels Scented Nail varnish

These cute pastel polishes are from Models Own Fruit Pastel collection and as you may have noticed from their packaging, they are scented, how cute! From left to right we have the perfectly named Banana Split, Apple Pie, Blueberry Muffin, Grape Juice and finally Strawberry Tart. The lid tops are even scratch n' sniff so you can try before you buy!

So, how do they look on and can you really smell those delicious fruity scents? Here's my run down of each colour:

Banana Split

Banana Split is a very delicate pale yellow shade. It smells quite strongly of banana when freshly applied but this does fade afterwards.

Apple Pie

I think Apple Pie is the strongest scent of all the pastels and is a mint green shade with a slightly blue hue to it.

Blueberry Muffin

Blueberry muffin is a really unique eggshell blue and is paler than most of the pastel blues I've come across, not that it's a bad thing. I think it looks really striking on your nails.

Grape Juice

Grape Juice is my favourite scent of them all, it's such a lovely fruity smell that reminds me of my childhood. It's also a gorgeous thistle purple that has a subtle pink tone to it.

Strawberry Tart

Strawberry Tart is probably the brightest colour of the collection and is definitely a strawberry pink. Fortunately for me the smell is more like strawberry laces rather than strawberry ice cream, which I personally much prefer.

The Fruit Pastel collection applies well and needs 2-3 coats for good coverage which I'd say is about average for pale pastel shades. It's a really pretty set and the colours all really stand out on my nails. The scented element is a nice touch but some scents are stronger than others and a top coat can ruin the effect. The polishes all dry glossy but I also absolutely loved them with a matte top coat too which you can see in most of the photos here.

(Disclaimer: I was lucky enough to win this collection in a Models Own competition)

    1. Aw thank you Ashley! Reminds me I must do a post about my base coat strengthener, I've been using it for a year now and I swear by it. x
