Review: Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

Bobbi Brown, Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, eyeliner, gel

When I visit airports I get a big thrill from shopping in them, no idea why, I just love the idea of buying some goodies either there or on the plane! So in a recent trip to Latvia over new year I decided to purchase one of Bobbi Brown's most famous products; the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. I went for just a classic 'Black Ink' shade for everyday use.

For the last few years, I have consistently stuck to my Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner - mainly because a pot lasts for such a long time. Bobbi Brown's eyeliner comes in at more than double the cost of this and does not include an eyeliner brush like Maybelline's! Is it worth it? Maybe. The main benefit for me of Bobbi Brown's is that it's definitely true to its name, it will last all day long, it doesn't budge and it doesn't imprint on my brow bone as it's drying (a frequent problem with Maybelline's). However, I'd actually say it's a less intense black than Maybelline's - I feel like I have to build it up a little thicker to get a truly opaque black.

Even though it's definitely not a budget buy at £17.50, Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is definitely going to last you a long time and is still a worthy purchase.

  1. Wow - I love how dramatic this looks on you! I have it in a softer brown shade which I love for everyday. Kat x

    1. Ooh, I don't have any brown eyeliner, tempted to check it out though as I do tend to go for a more neutral eye lately! x

  2. Oh wow this looks amazing. I love your flicks! I have been contemplating this or the MAC Fluidline, but just couldn't decide which one to buy?! I like how this has long lasting properties though xx

    1. Ah thank you!! I can't say I've ever checked out MAC's as it's not really a brand I like, but I can definitely vouch for this one. Maybelline's is still pretty great especially considering it's price, but I think I'll stick with Bobbi Brown for now! x

  3. I've used the Maybelline Gel Liner before and really liked it but have never considered trying another gel liner for some reason. The Bobbi Brown one looks amazing on you!

    1. I know! I was exactly the same. I guess I was just pretty happy with it and I never seemed to run out! I bought 2 pots together and they lasted years (I still have them!) but the transferring on to my brow bone was always a pain, happened almost every time! Thank you! x

  5. Wow you make the application look so effortless! I'm still not that brave with winged liner and I tend to stick to the good ol' angled brush + black (or any dark colour really) eyeshadow. But it does budge and transfer during the day, despite my religious wear of UDPP. I'll look this one up if I ever come to the point where winged liner is a must in my beauty routine.
P.S.: I can't get over how beautiful you are, omg ♥

    1. Aww thank you! I was thinking of writing up a step by step soon as I seem to do it in a different way to most guides, but usually it comes out pretty good :)

Yeah that sounds like it might be useful then, it's really good for not smudging or transferring!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments!! xx

    1. Me too! I'm not sure if it's worth all the hype as it doesn't tick all my boxes but it's definitely long lasting :)
