Selfridges London Autumn Beauty Event

Ready for all the new Autumn Beauty trends, Selfridges held a Beauty event in their London store on Thursday evening. It was open to the public, but if you purchased a ticket for £10 you would get extra goodies throughout the evening and you'd receive your £10 back with any purchase you made on the night.

There were plenty of delicious goodies around for those with bought a ticket, including a (seemingly never ending) supply of champagne, a pic n' mix stand, alcoholic snowcones (I went for raspberry and vodka) and candyfloss. The snow cone was lovely but unfortunately it made it a little tricky to check out all the products on the other stalls! They also had some samples of the BeautyIn Beauty Drinks I heard about a while ago and was eager to try. They're sugar free, have low levels of sodium, no preservatives and include a wide selection of nutrients. I went for the lychee drink and I really liked it, I'll definitely pop back for a few bottles. They also make gummy bears, but I don't really like sweets.

I've heard great things about Bumble and Bumble, it ended up being my first purchase of the evening. The lady serving was hugely helpful and spent some good time with me to identify the best products for my hair and explained the ingredients in all the various options. She demoed the Hairdresser's Invisible Oil on my hair; a light, feather-like oil you can use in damp or dry hair to give it some moisture without weighing it down or making it greasy. I was really impressed with the texture of my hair after using it, so I picked this up.

Bumble and Bumble were giving away a free goody bag to their first 50 customers which I was lucky enough to receive. Inside was BB Straight Blowdry cream, BB Thickening Hairspray, BB Texture (un)dressing creme and BB ColorMinded Shampoo, Conditioner and Styling Balm trio. Again she gave me full directions on how to use each product, very pleased!

Bumble and Bumble, Clarisonic, Illamasqua

Having heard plenty of amazing things from beauty bloggers everywhere about the Clarisonic Mia 2 I caved in and bought the pastel pink one. There's only so much hype I can listen to before I have to own it. I'm such a sucker! By this point I'd had few champagnes, perfect for making snap decisions and whipping out the credit card!

My favourite part of the evening was my visit to the Leonor Greyl Stand where they were offering a Huile de Palme hair oil application with a head and shoulder massage. I was fully pampered with some champagne and chocolate and the massage was wonderful, lasting around 5 minutes. I was given a decent sized Bain Volumateur Aux Algues shampoo sample and directed to wash the oil out either that night or the following morning.

Sacred Hour, Facet, Facet Sacred Hour Selfridges London Autumn Beauty Event Selfridges London Autumn Beauty Event

I think it's a crime that I don't own any Illamasqua so I paid a visit to their stall. I tried out the hugely loved Hydra Veil, but I think I'll leave that for another time. I ended up buying a beautiful taupe nail polish with a golden shimmer, really quite a unique shade. It's called Facet - from the Sacred Hour collection - I personally think it's a completely different colour to that of the images of the bottle online! It's a much more golden grey shade rather than a rich brown. Well worth checking out in person and I'll review and swatch it soon!

If you spent over £70 across the whole night you were able to have a go on the guaranteed win vending machine. The guy manning it was totally gorgeous too. Free mystery gift from a hot man? It didn't take much to convince me!

I got the 'default' prize, a little goody bag containing miniatures of Epic hand cream, Amouage Beloved eau de parfum and Amouage Opus VII eau de parfum (definitely the most luxurious perfume sample I've ever received - it came in a beautiful little box with a tiny note inside detailing the scent and ingredients

Who else managed to make it to one of the Selfridges Autumn Beauty events? I'd love to know what you came home with!

Of course several of my next posts will feature reviews of the products I tried and purchased at this event, so to keep up to date with them: Please follow me on Twitter here!
